As we head into the busy end-of-year season, many of us are wrapping up campaigns, juggling festive events, and gearing up for a packed calendar of winter activations. It’s an exciting time – but also one where burnout can creep in if we don’t take care of ourselves.

For anyone working in brand ambassador roles, it’s especially important to stay on top of wellbeing. Long hours, travel, and back-to-back shifts can be intense. Here are some simple ways to protect your energy, stay motivated, and finish the year strong.

Map out your schedule

Even if you’re not a natural planner, having a clear overview of your bookings helps reduce stress. Write down your confirmed shifts and note down any days off or quieter periods for rest. Don’t forget to leave time for admin – updating your staff profile, sending availability, or refreshing your portfolio – as well as personal downtime. Knowing what’s ahead helps you manage your energy better.

Tackle the admin straight away

After a long event, the last thing you’ll want to do is fill out forms or submit reports, but getting it done straight away makes a huge difference. The details will still be fresh in your mind, and it keeps you from building up a backlog.

Limit screen time

During quieter evenings or between events, it’s tempting to unwind by scrolling through social media – but this can often leave you more drained than relaxed. Try setting limits on phone use, especially before bed. A proper rest will help you recharge and show up fresh for your next shift.

Take time for yourself

Finding moments to rest is key. That might mean catching up on sleep, having a movie night, or going for a long walk. Whatever helps you reset – do it without guilt. Remember, rest isn’t a reward, it’s part of staying at your best.

Keep moving

Even light exercise can boost your mood and energy. Stretching, yoga, or a quick workout between shifts helps release tension and prevent fatigue, particularly after long hours standing. It doesn’t have to be intense; consistency matters more than duration.

Stay fuelled and hydrated

Working in events often means being on your feet for hours and grabbing quick snacks on the go. Keep a reusable water bottle handy and pack nutritious snacks to maintain your energy throughout the day. A balanced diet and steady hydration are small habits that make a big difference.

Know when to say no

It’s easy to feel pressure to take every opportunity, especially during the festive season. But saying “yes” to everything can quickly lead to exhaustion. Be selective – focus on the events and roles that matter most to you and allow time to rest between jobs.

Ask for help

If you’re struggling to balance it all, reach out – to friends, family, or your staffing coordinator. Whether it’s practical support or just someone to talk to, asking for help early can make all the difference.

Remember: You can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself means you’ll deliver your best performance on every campaign and go into the new year feeling energised and ready for what’s next.
