1. Can you tell us a bit about you, including how long you've worked at Elevate Global?

“I’ve always had a passion for performance. Starting as a childhood theatre actor, this gave me confidence in front of crowds. I’ve also loved marketing—how clever it is to persuade people to buy things. I even had a few side businesses growing up, like selling sweets at school. So, the idea of connecting with people and selling was pretty natural for me.

After working in corporate healthcare as a Marketing and Operations Manager for 5 years, I realized how much I loved working in events. Behind-the-scenes organization, logistics, and keeping everything running smoothly. are things people don’t realise are the backbone of a successful even. I’ve been with Elevate since 2020 and went full-time into events in 2022. Since then, I’ve been able to apply all my marketing, operations, and management experience.”

2. What drove you to work in events and pursue a career in event management?

“My journey into events began in 2017 at university, where I got a taste of promoting. I immediately loved the excitement and variety it offered. While working in marketing and operations for 5 years, I still got involved in events on the side. In 2022, I realized it was where my true passion lay, and I took the step to go full-time in events. Luckily, I haven’t looked back since.

I love the variety, flexibility, and the opportunity to work with amazing people across different sectors. It keeps me excited every day.”

3. What's the most challenging part of managing an event, and how do you overcome it?

“One of the biggest challenges in event management is – dealing with the unpredictability of real-world execution. Despite thorough planning, things can go wrong. Being able to react calmly and find a solution is crucial.

I always make sure I have contingency plans in place and focus on staying organized. This requires me to communicate effectively with my team. A problem may arise, but having a solution-focused mindset is what makes the difference.”

4. As an Event Manager, how do you ensure a great experience for the client, your team, and attendees during an event?

“Ensuring a great experience starts with clear communication and teamwork. I always ensure that each member understands their role, provide guidance when needed, and keep a positive attitude.

I look after them, and they do the same for me and the campaign. For clients and attendees, I focus on exceeding expectations. I do this by staying attentive, professional, and maintaining an approachable atmosphere. Building relationships and keeping everything organized is key.”

5. What advice would you give someone aspiring to be an Event Manager?

“My advice would be to stay adaptable and learn as much as you can. In this industry, you need to be open to change and not get discouraged by setbacks. Focus on building your communication skills and your ability to handle stress calmly.

Every event teaches you something new. With every campaign, your problem-solving skills improve. Lastly, remember that attitude makes a huge difference. Be positive, proactive, work hard, always ready to think ahead. And always enjoy the journey!”

6. What does a typical day look like for you when managing an event?

“I’m always the first on-site, making sure everything’s set up properly. I check resources, ensuring health and safety measures are in place, and go through the plan for the day.

From there, I oversee everything such as managing the team. I always ensure both clients and attendees have an unforgettable experience.”

7. What's been your favorite event to work on and why?

“My favorite event was definitely Wimbledon with Vodafone. The energy and team spirit were incredible. I loved working with so many people while providing a top-tier experience. It was a challenge that I very much enjoyed.

Here we had the opportunity to engage with thousands of guests each day. Seeing the positive reactions made all the hard work worthwhile. It was a fast-paced, high-energy environment, and I loved every minute of it.”
